Enzymatic hydrolysis

A unique patented technology in krill harvesting

Enzymatic hydrolysis is a natural process where enzymes and water work together to break the bonds holding large molecules together. It is the same process that naturally takes place when you are digesting your food.

Using enzymes and low temperatures the protein in the krill is gently broken down into smaller peptides. The result is a nutrient-rich krill paste that can then be mechanically separated from the shells.

At Rimfrost we use our patented enzymatic hydrolysis technology to process our krill. We do this offshore, immediately after harvesting and produce a sustainable krill product that is rich in EPA/DHA phospholipids, astaxanthin and proteins.
